UURROS   first–night 2000 Concept and Dance Jaana Klevering
Music  Jaap Klevering
Camera on stage Sini Haapalinna
Uurros is a dialogue between time, place, past, present; in the body,
environment and memory.  An interdisciplinary dance performance with dance, live-video and live music.
The aging body with all it's carves and curves represents the way time passes.

Uurros is inspired by the rock carvings found at the shore of the Onega Sea in Russia. The eldest carvings are more then 6000 years of age. They are stylised; both realistic and symbolic pictures that have been interpreted in various ways.
Human figures are often presented in dance positions. They have thick calf's and are hybrid-like, often half tree or half animal. The subjects of the rock carvings are birds, animals,  the moon and the sun, boats and people; they create a diverse display, confronting the viewer with elementary questions; they touch beyond explanation.

In the Uurros performance, dance combined with the latest technology is used to create a visual and audio environment that creates a world where time and place melt into one. A live camera on stage records carves and furrows on the dancers body and grooves in the floor and walls and project these images on the wall. The sound world consists of mostly vocal digitally manupilated soundtracks that are accompanied with live vocals.
